Ladies, Gentlemen and Invited Guests,

As you know we are all deeply saddened by the untimely death of our President G. Ronald Aldis.  The Nominations Committee is seeking to find a new President.  We will never find a replacement for Ronald, but we are doing our best.

Our Vice President, Bill Bozic, asked me to notify the members of the Zachary Taylor Chapter, Texas Society, General Society, War of 1812, and our friends that we will have our quarterly meeting at the Denis' Cajun Fish Market on Interstate 10 (between the Gessner and Blalock exits on the South side) at noon, Monday, January 12, 2009 and all are welcome.

Our speaker is no stranger to our midst...He is Hewitt Clarke.  Hewitt is an instructor of Texas History at Lone Star College of the Woodlands.  He has written six non-fiction books on Eastern Misssissippi.

He will be speaking on "The Deadliest Battle Ever Fought in Texas".  It was a battle with New Spain on the Medina River in the first attempt to establish a Republic of Texas in 1813 during the US War of 1812.
