The local resting place of roughly 3 million objects, including some of the earliest known spear points of North Americans, has earned special state approval as a safe house for valuable, public artifacts, a state official announced Monday.
The Museum of Texas Tech University has earned a curatorial facility certificate from the Texas Historical Commission, its chairman said.

The commission established the certificate program in 2006 to ensure the proper care and management of millions of artifacts collected on state land.
